Hello, I’m Nikole! I am a postpartum doula serving Vallejo and surrounding cities in the Bay Area of California

It takes a village…

I find myself so deeply inspired by the time in our history when we lived in intergenerational households and raised our children in community with our chosen village. When a baby was born our loved ones came together without being asked. The laundry was washed, older children were cared for and looked after while mothers and grandmothers filled the home with smells of home-cooked food being lovingly prepared on the stove. All the while baby and mother lay in bed nursing and resting, surrounded by so much warmth and love.

The needs of the birthing body have not changed, but the way in which we approach the postpartum experience here in the United States have moved so far away from these much needed traditional ideals. How can it be believed that although the body has taken 9 months to create new life it only needs a couple to bounce back? How can one visit at 6 weeks postpartum be nearly enough when the body has spiritually and physically been through one of the most transformative things it can experience? Surely the birthing body deserves a higher standard of care!

Postpartum is a Rite of Passage

When working with families I strive to provide the type of care that I am so deeply inspired by. I hope to bring back the village and the strong sense of community that once was so natural and abundant. In many cultures it is believed that the body of the birth giver is in its most open and vulnerable state in the first 40 days after birth. The new parents should be treated as tenderly as the new baby; they must first be nourished & nurtured so that they may in turn offer the same to baby. I feel honored to do this work and be invited to support and walk alongside families during their journey through parenthood.

Mutual Interview

If you are interested in working together, this 30-45 minute video call is a great way for us to introduce ourselves and connect with one another. We will discuss how you invision your postpartum and how I can best support your family in achieving that goal. After our mutual interview/consult, if it feels aligned for us both, we will move forward with our partnership in helping to create a postpartum experience that best suits you.

Virtual Postpartum Support - $475

We aren’t meant to do it alone! Postpartum support, whether in person or virtual, is essential to recovery. There are many reasons in-home support may be off the table at this moment in time, that doesn’t mean that postpartum support should be off the table all together. If you have wifi, no matter where you may be located, you can have a doula who is there ready to support your postpartum goals. While I may not be able to be hands on, there is still so much that I can offer and assist with. Help with Infant feeding, baby wearing, instruction in basic baby care, answering the “is this normal?” questions while also offering emotional support and a judgement free listening ear, are all valid and much needed. With this 4 week package you will also receive 2 custom tailored care packages, sent directly to your doorstep. Each package will contain items that are perfect for recovery and tailored to wherever you are at in your postpartum journey. Custom mixed herbs for teas, sitz baths, bath soaks, peri bottle rinses are all items that you may receive as well as handmade and locally sourced snacks and ingredients that will help to nourish you while you are in those slower early days of rest and transition.

In-Home Support

Welcoming a little one earth side is one of the most transformative times in a persons life. I’m a firm believer that raising a child is best done in community with those we trust. Having a village to reach out to when we need guidance and a helping hand is invaluable. As a part of your postpartum village I am able to prepare - warming and nourishing food and drinks, herbal teas, herbs for sitz baths and other medicinal herbs to help aid in your physical recovery. I can assist with newborn care, baby wearing, light house keeping, baby & sibling laundry, nursery organization, chest & bottle feeding and emotional support; answering all of those inevitable “is this normal?” questions. Prenatally, we will have 1, up to 2 hours long, in-home prenatal visit where we will have a chance to connect deeper and discuss your ideal postpartum experience.

The postpartum period is such a tender time of transition where you and baby are both adjusting and figuring out what you need from day to day and sometimes even hour to hour. Having support in the postpartum allows you to really lean into those tender moments knowing you are supported and cared for.

Hourly Rate -

  • $55/HR - Singelton

  • $70/HR - Multiples

In-home shifts are a minimum of 4 hours during the day

*Unsure about the amount of hours you may need? Don’t worry! We will work together, during our mutual interview, to figure out the amount of hours that best fit your needs.
